End User Impact: None/Low

This KB describes installing the agent via the command line manually for all operating systems.  These instructions may be used in conjunction with deployment solutions that will allow for scripted installation such as JAMF or Meraki.

  1. For Mac versions < 10.13.x or all versions where JumpCloud will not be managing Filevault users. Copy to the system and run as root.
  2. For Mac versions 10.13.x and above, where JumpCloud will manage Filevault users and APFS is in use. Copy to the system and run as root. For additional detail in this scenario, see Managing users with High Sierra, Filevault, and APFS.

Common Command Line Options
  • -k YOUR_CONNECT_KEY allows you to set your connect key for unattended installations.
  • /SILENT displays the installer GUI, but walks through the steps automatically. It will prompt you if you wish to reboot now, when the install is complete.
  • /VERYSILENT hides the installer GUI and walks through the steps automatically. It will automatically reboot once finished.
  • /NORESTART prevents setup from restarting the system following a successful installation. Typically used along with /SILENT or /VERYSILENT.
  • /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES answers yes to any installation dependencies, such as MFC redistributables.

To show all command line options available for Windows, use /help.

  1. Login to the system as a sudoer or root
  2. Run the following:
curl --silent --show-error --header 'x-connect-key: YOUR_CONNECT_KEY' | sudo bash
