Single Sign On (SSO) with G Suite

Prerequisites:

  • Generate a public certificate and private key pair.
  • In order to successfully complete the integration between JumpCloud and Google, you must have administrative rights to access configuration settings of the service provider.
  • A G Suite for Business, Education, or Basic (requires valid payment source); Non-profit or Standard (Free legacy) editions do not support SAML.

Notes:

  • How to configure User authorization.
  • When super administrators try to sign in to an SSO-enabled domain (with or without a network mask) via admin.google.com, they must enter their full Google administrator account email address and associated Google password (not their SSO username and password), and select Sign in to directly access the Admin console. Google does not redirect them to the SSO sign-in page. Read more on this functionality here.

Configure the JumpCloud SSO Application

  1. Access the JumpCloud Administrator Console at https://console.jumpcloud.com.
  2. Select Applications in the main navigation panel.
  3. Select the + in the upper left, scroll or search for the application in the 'Configure New Application' side panel, the select 'configure'.
  4. In the IDP Entity ID field, enter https://_YOURDOMAIN.TLD_ (e.g., https://thebestwidgets.com).
  5. Select Upload IdP Private Key and upload the private.pem file generated according to the above prerequisites.
  6. Select Upload IdP Certificate and upload the cert.pem file generated according to the above prerequisites.
  7. In the ACS URL field, enter https://www.google.com/a/YOURDOMAIN.com/acs (replace YOURDOMAIN.TLD with your G Suite domain).
  8. In the IdP-Initiated URL field, enter https://mail.google.com/a/YOURDOMAIN.TLD (replace YOURDOMAIN.TLD with your G Suite domain).
  9. In the field terminating the IdP URL, either leave the default value or enter a plaintext string unique to this connector.
  10. (Optional) In the Display Label field, enter a label that will appear beside the G Suite logo within the JumpCloud console to guide administrators and users to the connection you have configured.
  11. Select Save.

Configure the Service Provider

  1. Log in to the G Suite admin console at : admin.google.com
  2. Select on Security.
  3. Select on Set up Single sign-on (SSO.)
  4. Enable SSO by selecting the checkbox labeled Setup SSO with third party identity provider.
  5. In the Sign-in page URL field, enter the same IdP URL that you set in the JumpCloud console (if you did not modify the termination of this URL, then enter the default URL: https://sso.jumpcloud.com/saml2/google) .
  6. Enter the following Sign-out page URL: ´╗┐https://console.jumpcloud.com.
  7. Enter the following Change password URL: https://console.jumpcloud.com.
  8. For the verification certificate, upload your public certificate; cert.pem per the prerequisites.
  9. Leave Use a domain specific issuer unselected.
  10. Leave Network masks empty, unless desired.
  11. Select Save.

To test your single sign-on configuration:

(IdP-Initiated Flow)

  • Log into the JumpCloud User Console.
  • Select on the G Suite icon.
  • You should automatically be logged in to G Suite.

(SP-Initiated Flow)

  • In your Web browser, navigate to your G Suite domain login page located at http://mail.google.com/a/YOURDOMAIN.TLD (replace YOURDOMAIN.TLD with your G Suite domain).
  • If necessary, log into the JumpCloud User Console as the appropriate user.
  • You should automatically be logged in to G Suite.
