Use JumpCloud on macOS 13 Ventura with Third-Party MDMs

Apple has made a change in macOS 13 Ventura that affects JumpCloud and JumpCloud IT Admins. In macOS 13 Ventura, end users have the ability to switch off persistent software, such as the JumpCloud Agent. JumpCloud has implemented new processes to address this concern and this article is focused on administrators who run JumpCloud alongside a third-party MDM.

For JumpCloud to operate properly on a macOS device that is managed through a third-party MDM, you need to download and install the custom profile attached to this article to your MDM as well as edit some configuration settings. To do so, follow these instructions:

  1. Download the profile file from this article. It’s located on the right side of this page under Trending Articles.
  2. Follow the instructions for your MDM to install this custom profile.
    1. (Optional) If your MDM has a “Login Items” or “Background Items” GUI object or template, you can use that in lieu of JumpCloud’s custom config profile. You will need to set the following:
      • LabelPrefix, com.jumpcloud
      • TeamIdentifier, N985MXSH85
